FROM LEFT TO RIGHT: Rea Lizza Victoria and Carl Benito.
C. S. Lewis once wrote, “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” Rea Lizza Victoria perfectly understands this quotation because when she realized that her work permit would expire in January 2016, she found out that the work permits of her close friends would expire at around the same time too.
Rea Lizza left the Philippines in January 2014 to seek the proverbial greener pasture in Canada. In no time she made friends with Maria Corazon Carson, Rowena Corre, and Ma Jesicca Elman, who were her workmates at Tim Hortons in Edmonton, Alberta. The four friends all arrived in Canada around the same time and, thus, their work permit expired around the same time also.
In November 2015, Rea Lizza and her friends visited the office of immigration consultant Carl Benito hoping for advice on how they could extend their stay in Canada legally. Carl advised Rea Lizza and her friends to apply for a study permit. Rea Lizza received approval on January 28, 2016 and she was delighted when she heard the news that all of her friends received the same study permit approval around the same time as well.
Not only was she fortunate to extend her stay in Canada, but all of Rea Lizza’s friends were approved as well. It’s double double happiness, a Tim Hortons regular would dsay.
